Re: [AMIA-L] PETE SMITH SPECIALITIES

The Pete Smith shorts were one-reelers. Some occasionally turn up as “one reel wonders” on Turner Classic Movies. Over 200 were made between 1936 and 1955. They are all listed in Leonard Maltin’s book “The Great Movie Shorts” published in 1972. In my copy the ISBN is quoted as 0-517-504553

Film archivists of the world

I'm told that Warner Brothers has all of the Pete Smith Specialities in its archive.

I am wondering if anyone has seen any of these shorts, and can they tell me how short they actually are?

Some of the stunts in those movies were done by Pete Peterson, and I hope to include some of that in a documentary called Surfing Before the 50s.

      All feedback appreciated.

      Thanks.
