Two years ago, Academy Award composer Gustavo Santaolalla produced a two CD collection called "Café de los maestros" for Universal, which is terrific. And a few months ago most of the artists involved gathered togheter for a live performance at the Colon Theater in Buenos Aires (including themes not featured in the CDs) .
When I said "most of the artists involved" I have to say, sadly, that some died in the meantime and at least one retired.
Here is one of several "trout" clips available. Here, Mariano Mores plays "Tanguera", his best instrumental tango, conducting his orchestra from the piano. He just recently turn 89 and he is one of the last survivors of a great era.
The presence of a steadycam indicates that
somebody is making a film out of this concert. Those people are Santaolalla, Walter Salles and Lita Stantic.
