[AMIA-L] Noise mitigation in a film examination area

Dear colleagues,

I am currently looking at redesigning our film examination / preservation area, for around 10 staff.

One of the issues is the level of noise generated by film winding equipment, as well as general noise in a large open plan area. As we would like to have our PCs based in the same area I would like to minimize the noise problems as much as I can.

Does anyone have experience of inexpensive ways of baffling walls, ceilings, or alternate flooring that will absorb ambient noise (someone has suggested rubberized flooring to me).

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Caitlin

PS. Thank you for your responses on the insulated trolley concept – I am yet to fully digest them but will likely back with further questions shortly.
