[AMIA-L] Seeking surviving footage of Paris bubblegum plant opening on October 1, 1947

I'm Luke Garza, associate producer on a documentary entitled ANDY PARIS:
BUBBLEGUM KING. The documentary tells the true story of Andrew J. "Andy"
Paris, a businessman who singlehandedly cornered the world's bubblegum
market in the late 1940s.

We are currently looking for surviving footage of the Paris bubblegum plant
opening on October 1, 1947, in McAllen, Texas and possibly Reynosa, Mexico,
where the after-party was held. The Paris family had a 16mm print of the
opening that has long since crumbled. We are not certain whether that print
was the only one.

We have reason to believe that the film may have been shot on negative
rather than reversal, since Andy Paris was a wealthy man who employed the
services of a Hollywood public relations firm, Bishop & Associates.

We do know that Beauford Jester, then governor of Texas, and Robert Allan
Shivers, then lieutenant governor of Texas, were in attendance at the
opening...so if there is someone out there with motion picture footage of
either of these two men in 1947 (other than their inauguration ceremony,
which is currently available but of no interest to us), there is a distinct
possibility that such footage might contain excerpts of the Paris bubblegum
plant opening.

If anyone can provide assistance in this matter, please contact me, Luke
Garza, directly at bajakaloopllc@xxxxxxxxxx
