The discussion on edge gilding and painting brings to mind an illustrative
article on fore-edge painting by Jonathan Gilbert in the latest issue of The
New Bookbinder, the Journal of Designer Bookbinders (UK), Volume 17, 1997. The
article is a short historical overview and includes steps on how to go about
it. The descriptions are clear, has plenty of good pictures and lists
references.
