PREPUBLICATION LEGAL REVIEW OF MANUSCRIPTS
AVOID COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT AND LIBEL SUITS!
LEARN HOW TO CLEAR RIGHTS!
What: This panel of experts will answer questions concerning common
publishing perils, including copyright infringement, right of privacy and
libel. Particular attention will be paid to obtaining clearances, releases,
disclaimers, and publishers liability insurance. Question and answer period
to follow. Informal reception to follow Q&A period.
When: Tuesday, January 17, 1999 between 5.30-7.30pm

How To Register: Individual workshop: $30.00 (non-members); $20.00 (Small
Press Center members). Series subscription for the remaining 5 workshops:

THE SMALL PRESS CENTER. At the center of the small press movement since its
founding in 1984 by Whitney North Seymour, Jr., the Small Press Center is
located in a literary landmark building at 20 West 44th Street, in the shadow
of The New Yorker and Algonquin Hotel. For over fourteen years, the Small
Press Center has served as a resource for independent publishers, writers and
other creators, encouraging excellence in publishing. The Center offers
educational programs, sponsors the annual Small Press Book Fair, and maintains
a reference library at its mid-Manhattan location. The Center is co-founder,
with the Publishers Marketing Association (PMA), of Small Press Month (March
1999.) A non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization, the Center is an educational
program of the General Society of Mechanics & Tradesman of the City of New
York.
