Perhaps is was "largely" undetected but the CBC broadcasted a documentary on
their Ideas show June 16-20.

This week another Centenary milestone passed largely undetected. Eric
Arthur Blair was born June 25, 1903.  My current small edition binding
project is NINETEEN EIGHTY-FOUR, which he wrote under the pseudonym George
Orwell in 1949. He died in 1950.
