[BKARTS] vegetable parchment

Found a box in the back of the bindery - looks like from the 50's...label says "Patapar brand 
vegetable parchment" Paterson Parchment paper company - High Wet Strength, Grease Resistance. 

Inside is a stack of 7"x8" paper that looks like tracing paper....anyone know what it is or what it is for?
