[BKARTS] Los Angeles Book Arts Lecture and Representation Interviews
The Los Angeles Book Arts Center and the Beverly Hills Public Library invite
you to an encore presentation by Bill and Vicky Stewart, owners of Vamp and
Tramp Booksellers and Califia Books. Once again, Bill and Vicky will be
offering a hands-on look at a large sampling of the contemporary fine press and
artists’ books that they represent.
This free lecture will take place on Sept. 14, 2004, at the Beverly Hills
Public Library, which is located at 444 North Rexford Dr. in Beverly Hills.
The talk will begin promptly at 7:00 PM. There is free parking in the Beverly
Hills Library parking lot.
The Stewarts are also offering a unique opportunity exclusively to members
of the Los Angeles Book Arts Center. The Stewarts will be making half hour
appointments from 3pm-9pm on Monday, Sept. 13 with members interested in having
Vamp & Tramp represent their work. The Stewarts will look at finished
pieces of work, discuss pricing and marketing ideas and explain their way of
operating with artists and presses. If you’ve ever wanted to know how your work
compares to what is currently being sold, this is your chance to see what
your concept, content and technique may be worth in the marketplace. Members
who wish to have their work reviewed by the Stewarts may contact them by
Thursday, September 9 for an appointment by phone at (205) 824-2300 or by email at

The Los Angeles Book Arts Center is a creative, intellectual and technical
resource for artists, collectors, dealers, curators and all individuals
interested in the book and paper arts. It is the center's mission to serve as a
network and clearinghouse for information, education and resources. This is
being accomplished through networking, workshops, lectures, publications,
exhibitions and outreach. Our commitment is to build a strong community as well as
to further individual pursuits in the book and paper arts.
The Los Angeles Book Arts Center (LABAC) was founded in September 2002.
Open meetings, hosted lectures, classes and continuous online discussion groups
all contribute to building a strong book arts community in Los Angeles. We
offer the broadest possible range of classes in the book arts, drawing and
calligraphy, paste papers and monoprints, book structures of all types, cases
and boxes, and everything between and beyond. The Los Angeles Book Arts Center
is a 501 (c) 3 not for profit corporation. Contributions are tax deductible
to the extent allowed by law.
