Direct your friend to the Antiquarian Booksellers Assn of America:
http://www.abaa.org/. Click on "Our Booksellers" in the line up at the
top. This leads to a form which will let you discover what booksellers
are in your (or near) his town.

 

Also, do a search on ABE
(http://dogbert.abebooks.com/servlet/SearchEntry) or a related site to
get an idea of what the books are currently retailing for. I just
checked Kipling's Day's Work (Doubleday, 1899) on ABE & there are 34
listed ranging from $2.95 to $25.00, plus one at $40.00 and another at
$75.00.
