[BKARTS] opening reception- Los Angeles

Opening reception of Russell Crottys' newest works, which includes an artist
book collaboration with Charlene Matthews, January 29th, 5-7pm at
Shoshanawayne Gallery, Bergamot Station, Santa Monica, CA.

The book, Field Charts for Telescopic Work on Starlit Evenings (table top
version) is 5 feet 2 inches by 12 feet long, longstitch tightback, canvas
covers, tooled leather wood covered spine and sewn leather corners.  The
Field Guide rolls up to be stored in a 6 foot canvas covered tube, leather
caps and carry straps.  It sits on a wooden folding camp table measuring 6
feet by 14 feet, with an aluminum folding structure to hold the pages as
they are turned (collaboration with Jed Lind). Contents are 6, 5 feet by 10
feet  pages, 2 pages of Field Charts and two pages of vellum overlays, drawn
with black gel pen and watercolors.



Exhibit runs to March 5th.  Also included are 2, 6 feet hanging spheres
covered in global star charts.



Pictures of the book installation and construction will be on my web site in
a few days.
