Recently I had to preserve at least 100 letters written by my brother who
was killed in WWII. They were in bad condition, having been kept in folded
envelopes, carried around in pockets and then kept stored in corregated
cardbord boxes in someone's attic for 60 years. They were on various kinds
of stationery, some written on one side, others on both, some in ink, others
in pencil. Many were written right up to the edges, leaving no room for
applying corners of any kind. I did not want to use any paste-on corners,
Hos I accomplished the job is too complicated for me to explain now, but I
do have a suggestion for you. If your album pages are a heavy black archival
paper, you might position the photos where you want them, use a pointed tool
to make a small hole to mark the "legs" of the corners and make slits with a
sharp knife. Sometimes two slits are made so that the photo slips between
them on the top of the page. This method requires no adhesive, and photos
may be easily removed. You don't have to make any corners and your photos
may be placed wherever you want them. If you want to place photos on both
sides, it is possible to work it out so that the slits may hidden or
disguised on the other side. If your photos are all the same size and to be
positioned uniformly, it would be possible to slit several pages at onse.
I hope I've given you some useful info, something you may be able to adapt
to your situation.

For a small edition I need about 300 old style photo mounting corners
made of a good black "archival" paper and about 1" long on the short legs
of the corner. An extensive web search turns up 1/2 to 5/8 inch sizes
only. Does anyone know a source for larger sizes? I really don't want to
