[BKARTS] classes in OR
The Oregon Book Arts Conference is sponsoring a workshop with Jacqueline
Sullivan. Mixed Media for Book Artists, Saturday & Sunday, February 4 & 5 at
Radius Studios, 2515 SE 22nd Ave, Portland, OR. This class is about building a
personal repertoire of mixed media techniques that can be incorporated in the
book arts. Using all sorts of acrylic media, students will explore a variety
of methods for creating interesting textural and metallic surfaces, suitable
for book covers .The class will use some of the techniques for pages and
decorative elements inside the books that we will create on the 2nd day of class.
The final project will be a single needle Coptic stitch book, utilizing the
covers made in class. More advanced bookbinders may choose a structure of their
own for a final project. Hand outs for the class will be in a wire bound book
with color samples of the techniques studied. Jacqueline Sullivan is a
calligrapher, graphic designer, mixed media artist from Lake Orion, Michigan. She
has been published in Somerset Studio and Cloth Paper and Scissors
Magazines. She has been on the faculty for several of the International Calligraphy
Conferences and teaches at many of the major art retreats around the country.
