[BKARTS] SF Center for the Book - Events and Summer Catalog
Greetings from the San Francisco Center for the Book -
Our summer catalog (covering May through August) will be at the presses
soon and should be on our website Monday, March 26. Stay posted at
www.sfcb.org. Also on our horizon are a couple of exciting and free
events:
Poets Pulling Prints with Clemens Starck –
A poetry reading and release of limited edition broadsides
Friday, March 30 from 7-9pm
at the The San Francisco Center for the Book
(location details below)
Poets Pulling Prints is a free ongoing Center series that celebrates
poetry both aloud and in print. SFCB celebrates an original voice of
American poetry, poet and writer Clemens Starck. After dropping out of
Princeton University, Clemens Starck continued his education on the
open road, riding freight trains and writing poetry. He worked as a
ranch hand, newspaper reporter, door-to-door salesman, merchant seaman
and construction worker, penning his poems simultaneously. Signed
letterpress broadsides, designed and printed by Jerry Reddan, will be
available.

How I Work as a Book Artist with Peter Madden - A lecture and
conversation
Thursday, April 5 from 7-9pm
at the The San Francisco Center for the Book
Peter Madden's book art incorporates a wide range of imaging techniques
in combination with unusual materials to produce arresting effects. He
teaches book arts and alternative photo processes at the Museum of Fine
Arts in his home town of Boston, and has taught at a variety of other
places nationwide. More information on Madden is available at
www.petermadden.com.
SFCB’s new series, How I Work as a Book Artist, focuses on the creative
process of artists working in the book form. There are as many
approaches to this medium as there are practitioners, and we’ll feature
artists working in a wide variety of styles.
Both events will take place at:
The San Francisco Center for the Book
300 De Haro Street (entrance on 16th Street)
