BIOGRAPHY
“Known for her large-scale sculpture and installation projects,
the Minneapolis-based Bart draws inspiration from
her steadfast engagement with books and the written word.
These elements are central to her gallery-sized installations
as well as to her smaller sculptures and artist’s books.”

Since 1976, Harriet Bart’s installations, objects, and books
have been exhibited extensively throughout the United States and  
Germany.
She has completed more than ten public art commissions
in the last decade in the United States, Japan, and Israel.
Bart has been the recipient of fellowships from the Bush Foundation,
the McKnight foundation, and NEA Arts Midwest.
Since 2000 she has published six fine press artist’s books
and won two Minnesota Book Awards.
Her work is included in many collections including:
Metropolitan Museum of Art, National Gallery of Art, Library of  
Congress, Walker Art Center, Minneapolis Institute of Arts,
Weisman Art Museum, Jewish Museum, National Museum of Women
in the Arts, and Sackner Archive of Visual and Concrete Poetry.
