The Jaffe Center for Book Arts at Florida Atlantic University's
Wimberly Library in Boca Raton announces a weekend workshop with
artist Béatrice Coron.
CUTTING for DESIGN with instructor Béatrice Coron
Two Days: Saturday & Sunday, November 10 & 11, 2007
10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Jaffe Center for Book Arts: Book Studio 350C
Class Limit: 10
A creative approach to papercutting: participants will learn to use
papercuttings as images and as tools for stenciling while
experimenting with 3-dimensional structures for artists' books.
During this class we will explore how to balance positive and
negative space and the different ways to adapt photographs and
illustrations to papercuttings. For beginners or for advanced
students to challenge their skills. Tips, tricks, and resources will
be provided.
We will work on the first day with black & white and color collage,
and on the second day with stencils and dimensions. We'll be working
with stencil paper (kakisibugami, linseed oil and acrylic paper),
vellum, and different styles of Tyvek.
