   **Special Guest Artist** PAPER MARBLING with Stephen Pitelkow 
   Weekend Intensive Sat/Sun October 20 & 21: 10:00AM-4:00PM 
   Learn the magic of marbling with our Guest Artist, coming to New  York City to share his secrets from over a decade of working with this historic process & producing exquisite papers. Experiment with color, pattern & unique designs, & learn proper treatment of paper and cloth.  Each student will create a portfolio of beautiful papers for use in future projects.   
   
   POLYMER WORKSHOP: BUSINESS CARDS
   Letterpress Printing with Mindy Belloff
   4 Monday evenings: October 15, 22, 29, November 5: 6:30PM-9:00PM
   Polymer plates allow flexibility in printing image & text. Combine digital design with classic letterpress printing. Learn how to set up your computer files, consider typography & composition and proper specs for plates. Complete 100 one-color business cards, that you will hand print on our Vandercook press. 
   (Basic computer knowledge required) 
   
   INTRODUCTION TO BOOK RESTORATION 
   with Joseph A. Osina (Bookbinding All Levels)
   5 Wednesday Evenings, October 10, 17, 24, 31, November 7: 6:00-9:00PM
   Concentrating on traditional restoration techniques, learn paper, spine and hinge repairs, re-sewing of loose sections, &  cloth re-backing. Become more familiar with binding tools & adhesives & the structure of the book, as you restore the damaged volumes from your personal library. 
   
   INTRODUCTION TO ARTIST?S BOOKS:
   UNDERSTANDING & PLANNING YOUR EDITION
   with Mindy Belloff
   Sat/Sun October 27 & 28: 10:00AM-4:00PM
   Combine text & images to communicate your narrative in the form of an artist?s book.  Learn 3-4 binding structures, print letterpress & intaglio print editions, brainstorm your ideas & plan your individual book.  Artist?s books from the instructor?s library will also be explored + digital processes covered.  A full semester?s worth of information in only 2 days!
