Adhesives for wood

Can anyone suggest a good adhesive to gluing wood,  specifically it will
be used on an architectural house model, rather large 4'x4'x4' and the
members will be quite small.  Its a construction detail model and may
also have to have some metal pieces glued on.  Rabbit hide is typically
used but whats the longevity of it?
