Coatings for exhibit cases

I am in the process of developing internal guidelines on materials to
use in case construction.  The field varies widely on what paints and
materials are safe to use in museum exhibit cases and the time it takes
for these to dry or fully off-gas.  Can anyone advise me on this matter?
