Scratchboard

Does any one have information on the materials used to make black
scratch board and the method used in its manufacturing?

    says this:

        Cardboard coated with a smooth layer, usually of gesso, and
        then with drawing ink. An image is made by scraping away
        areas of ink and exposing the white layer.
