Research topics in textile conservation

I have just entered a graduate program in textile conservation at
the University of Alberta (in the fair city of Edmonton, Alberta,
Canada). Although I have course work to complete before I tackle my
thesis, I am investigating areas of research on which my thesis
could be based. Would any  conservators be willing to discuss what
they feel is a problem, or an area requiring more research, in the
practise of conserving textiles? I would be most grateful for any
insights you may have to offer,
