I heard the news on the CBC the other day, which also cited the Globe
and Mail story. I suppose that in past decades the British Library might
have been the logical place to which to transfer such research holdings,
but if they are trying to raise additional capital Sotheby's or Christie's
is likely to be a chief beneficiary.

Has there been any kind of public debate on this subject as there was
two years or so ago when Sotheby's sold the "duplicate" volumes from
the John Rylands Library for Manchester University?
