I don't think the analogy is complete: if I was into rhino horn, I would
be happy to buy one from a naturally deceased rhino, but I wouldn't go
out and shoot one for it, cos there aren't many around. Follow this line
and it indicates you could cannibalise books if they were already in bad
shape, which is something I *wouldn't* do. But I agree with the objective
behind what you say. What I object to in some reserve collections is the
attitude that merely because a book is incomplete or damaged, it should
be locked away and not released to the scholar. Hot books, never.
