For some time now I have been noting down, when I hear of them,
references to copies of Francesco Petrarca, _Canzoniere_ which were
once owned by Tudor figures. Despite my best efforts the list is
short. George Gascoigne's copy of one of the Gesualdo editions is in
Chicago, and Catherine Parr's Petrarch is in the BL. I note that Joe
Trapp's Panizzi lectures mention a Petrarch once owned by Cuthbert
Tunstall which is at Columbia. Has anyone suggestions to add to this
list? I would be grateful to know of _signed_ copies of any of the
multitudinous editions of the Canzoniere which were owned in England during
in the period 1480-1680, the earlier the better. Informants will be
warmly thanked in print when and if I get a chance to publish the results.
