This following message is forwarded from Gay-libn, the lesbian,
bisexual, gay, and queer librarian bulletin board for your
information. I thought there might be members of Exlibris who aren't
on Gay-libn who would be interested in supplying NGLTF with
information about their institutions.
Thanks,
Marvin J. Taylor

THE NGLTF CAMPUS PROJECT NEEDS YOUR HELP!!
WHO ARE WE?
We're a national campus organizing effort based in a field office of the
National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Policy Institute in Los Angeles, headed
by Dr. Curt Shepard.
WHAT IS OUR PURPOSE?
(1) To provide campus-based lesbian/gay/bisexual (lgb) groups with the
technical assistance, support and educational resources they need for:
--Bringing lgb subject matter into curricula;
--Confronting and reducing homophobia, harassment and violence;
--Increasing organizational effectiveness through leadership development and
team-building;
--Removing ROTC from campuses;
--Securing health insurance coverage and other benefits for the domestic
partners of lgb faculty and staff; and
--Linking up, through computer technology being developed by and for NGLTF by
Digital Queers, to other campuses and to the broader lgb community of
communities nationwide.
(2) To develop the project in a way that empowers campus organizers and
their organizations, providing them with opportunities for input and access.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
(1) Curt needs to update our campus data base. You could earn major lgb
brownie points by providing us with current information about your campus,
including whether or not it has:
--A nondiscrimination policy that includes protections for lgb students,
faculty and staff (include policy language);
--A resource center, office or other dedicated "safe space" for lgb students,
faculty and/or staff (include brochures, newsletters, program flyers, etc);
--An lgb student organization or organizations;
--An lgb faculty/staff organization;
--An lgb alumni association;
--Secured health and/or other benefits for the domestic partners of lgb
faculty and staff;
--Integrated lgb subject matter into the curriculum (include course titles);
and
--Succeeded in -- or is in the process of -- removing ROTC.
OF PARTICULAR IMPORTANCE TO US ARE NAMES, ADDRESSED, PHONE/FAX NUMBERS AND
EMAIL ADDRESSES OF CONTACT PEOPLE FOR EACH OF THESE AREAS. Please include
information for at least one permanent contact person or office.
Finally, you can help by becoming a COOPERATING ORGANIZATION OF THE NGLTF
POLICY INSTITUTE FOR THE LOW, LOW REDUCED ANNUAL RATE OF $60.00 (pay one fee
per campus). If your organization is unable to afford this charge, we would
appreciate your donating whatever amount you can to ensure our ability to
serve lgb campus groups with resource materials and technical support.
Please do not hesitate to contact Curt (6030 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 200, LA,
CA 90036; ph: 213/934-9030; fax: 213/937-0601; email: campusproj@aol.com)
with any questions or suggestions you may have. All of us at the Policy
Institute look forward to working with you and your campus.
