Conference Announcement

             L.M. MONTGOMERY INSTITUTE HOSTS SYMPOSIUM

The L.M. Montgomery Institute, located at the University of
Prince Edward Island, is welcoming registrations for its first
major event - an international symposium entitled L.M. Montgomery
and Her Works.

The Institute, officially launched in April 1993, has been
established to pay tribute to L.M. Montgomery, our most famous and
beloved author. It will provide a centre for research and learning
focusing on Montgomery's works, career, life, and Island home, and
each year it will host events that will bring together those who
wish to learn more about her.

Our first such event is the symposium, L.M. Montgomery and Her
Works, scheduled for June 23-26, 1994 - a wonderful time of year to
visit Prince Edward Island. Scholars and enthusiasts will gather at
the University of Prince Edward Island in Charlottetown to talk and
learn about Montgomery. Speakers from Japan, Sweden, the United
States, and Canada will give presentations on a variety of topics
relating to Montgomery's life, writing, ideas, and achievements.

The symposium is open to anyone who is interested in L.M. Mont-
gomery, whether a member of the general public or an academic scholar. You
may wish to include the symposium in a family vacation. While you attend
the symposium, your family could participate in the many other exciting
activities and events that take place here in the summer. (See registration
section below for obtaining information on summer activities and events.)
