Stolen Book Alert



                  Salt Lake City Book Store Robbed

Between 9:30 PM, October 24th, and 7:00 AM, October 25th, Sam Weller
Books, also known as Zion Book Store, in Salt Lake City, Utah, was robbed of
approximately 75-100 books, all worth $200 and up.

According to Tony Weller, the store was broken into during the night, and
thieves carried off the books in 2 cartons labeled "Joshua Moses Bennett
- Gosepl of the Great Spirit". Police believe the theft was the work of 2
people, one of whom wore gloves.

Among the items takes were a Frank Lloyd Wright portfolio of drawings; a
first edition of Thomas Pynchon's "Gravity's Rainbow"; two limited edition
Stephen King books: "Peter Straub" and "The Stand"; a facsimile religious
document printed on vellum, ca. 1900; some first edition William Faulkner
titles; and a few new books and CD-ROM titles, including H.G. Giger titles
and a new book of Gnomes. Pricing codes (in pencil) in the books include the
dollar price followed by the cents above an "x", followed by a two letter
code.
