Re: DUPLICATES SALES

This is an interesting thread, and it has helped me make up my mind.

After more than two decades of wandering through special collections in
universities, public libraries, and private libraries, I have come to the
conclusion that librarians (and historians!) are the last people whom I
would trust to take care of the focused collection which I have put
together.

Not my ego, but my knowledge of what is important built my collection, and
I will defend my knowledge and the importance of my collection against all
comers.

Librarians and archivists are not noted risk-takers; conservators place
their knowledge at risk everytime they put a tool to an artifact.

There is an instruction in my safety deposit box which requests that my
heirs/assigns attempt to dispose of my reference collection en masse, if
possible, in a reasonable time. One year is the time I suggest.

I have decided, in no small part due to this thread, that that instruction
will be changed. The collection is to be sold at auction. If a library
wants part of the collection, they can bid for it.

Let others enjoy the texts which have brought me knowledge and joy;
hopefully the readers will be new owners, not readers in some public
library.
