             ANNOUNCEMENT OF LIBRARY FACULTY VACANCY


Position: Curator of Mormon Americana Collection at Brigham Young 
University
Deadline for Application: December 1, 1996
Available: Spring 1997

Responsibilities:
Responsible for the collection development and reference of the 
Mormon Americana Collection, including outreach, promotion, and exhibits.  
This collection consists of printed materials in all aspects of Mormonism, 
Utah, and the West, including out of print and current imprints. 

The Curator reports to the Chair of the Special Collections and 
Manuscripts Department.

Qualifications:
Excellent knowledge of Mormon, Utah and Western history.  MLS and a 
second masters degree in a field related to one of the above areas, or equivalent 
experience.  Excellent knowledge of Mormon and Utah bibliography, i.e. out 
of print materials including an awareness of rare Mormon book values.  
Excellent knowledge of current Utah, Western, and Mormon publishing. 
Experience with online library utilities.  Knowledge of search strategies 
for online and CD-ROM products related to these fields.  Demonstrated 
knowledge of the Internet and the World Wide Web.

Salary and Benefits
Faculty status, generous insurance and retirement benefits.  Salary 
is negotiable depending on qualifications.  Twelve-month contract with 
twenty-two days annual  leave and additional professional development 
time available.
