I'm not sure Paul Sternberg's intended to post his message to the list,
but I heartily applaud what he said. I do not understand why Mr.
Selzer reacted defensively to Ev Wilkie's warning. He cannot imagine
thAt Wilkie bears any will toward Bibliofind. Mr. Wilkie may
legitimately have considered it his responsibility tol point out that a
contagious virus may be involved; but it was at the least entirely
within his right of speech, as it was conditioned in such a way as to
have no slander or falsehood.
I certainly hope the result is not to banish booksellers' trade
postings from the list. Most of us realiaze that we are guests and
colleagues, and that the purpose of the list is to serve its
subscribers and that it serves us only by way of sserving them.
