Bibliocity: new rare book service

DO NOT USE YOUR EMAIL *REPLY* FUNCTION TO RESPOND TO THIS ANNOUNCEMENT.
BE SURE ANY MESSAGE COMES TO ME AND NOT TO THE ENTIRE LIST.

I am pleased to announce Bibliocity, a new rare book service on the web
at

  http://www.bibliocity.com/

Bibliocity's mission is to give free, fast, and functional online access
to the inventories and catalogues of dealers in rare and collectible
books.

Bibliocity's core technology is a state-of-the-art search service that
fully supports booksellers who take pains in the presentation of their
books, by indexing every word and number (yes, even articles), and
supporting powerful field-based searches (e.g., it is a simple matter to
restrict attention to books published in any period). Books are
presented to the standards of the finest printed catalogues (insofar as
this is possible with current Web browsers).

Bibliocity is one week old. Its present complement of booksellers will
be well known to and respected by members of ExLibris. Bibliocity aims
to become the premier site on the Web for the highest quality rare
books.

I shall close by saying that I am grateful for the opportunity to be
able to make this announcement on this list. Bibliocity puts buyers in
direct email contact with its booksellers, and keeps very much in the
background. But feedback and suggestions from librarians and other users
are encouraged and valued. Be assured that Bibliocity will always strive
to uphold the highest standards of professional conduct, and treat all
members of this list with courtesy.

Sincerely,

Paul Pritchard
Founding Director, Bibliocity
