The New York Public Library has an excellent opportunity available for
a P/T Librarian I in the Library for the Performing Arts/Billy Rose
Theatre Collection.
Under the supervision of the Curator, the successful candidate will
handle all aspects of reorganizing the Collection's library of rare
books. Responsibilities include: original and copy cataloging;
updating both print and on-line cataloging records; reshelving,
relabeling and performing minor preservation tasks.
Qualified applicants must possess the following: an ALA accredited
MLS degree; demonstrated on-line cataloging experience in RLIN and
OCLC; reading knowledge of one or more foreign languages; strong
organizational skills; ability to complete long-range projects; and
the ability to work effectively with all levels of staff. Knowledge
of rare book preservation techniques is preferred as well as an
educational background in theatre.
This P/T position requires 17.5 hours per week and is temporary
through June 30, 1997. We offer a starting salary of $14,081 plus,
good benefits and the opportunity to work for a preeminent
