(SEARCH EXTENDED) Archivist/Special Collections Librarian
Musselman Library, Gettysburg College
Gettysburg College seeks an experienced Archivist/Special Collections
Librarian. This position is responsible for developing and implementing
policies and programs and managing the operations of Special Collections
consisting of archival records, books, manuscripts, maps, photographs and
museum objects. Also responsible for record management program, providing
reference assistance and working with donors. May assist in Reference,
participate in bibliographic instruction, and serve as a liaison to one or
more academic departments. This position reports to the Library Director,
works closely with the Coordinator of Collections and supervises student
assistants and one library intern.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required: ALA-accredited MLS with course work in archives;
at least two years of progressively responsible experience, preferably in a
higher education setting; experience surveying, appraising, arranging, and
describing collections, administering access agreements and constructing
and implementing records retention schedules; strong written and oral
communication abilities and experience providing public services;
familiarity with electronic records. Highly desired: Subject depth in
American history or American literature; foreign language; cataloging and
exhibit experience.
