Greetings,
I am happy to read that culinary celebration does not seriously impair
the conservation of rare book collections. This is about 2 words:
The assumption of "responsibility" would not preclude heeding the
cautions of other responsible people, or revising policies or
practices. Why, indeed wait till someone pays "the price"?
"Professionalism" would not preclude input from other professions.
Teachers of the classics (or other subjects) might be quite happy
to listen to special collections librarians.
Rare book librarians are usually appreciative to find faculty concerned
about their treasures. They may be just as rare as the books! And
personally, I find the elegant interiors of some of our libraries a great
delight; even without a party.
2 mores cents; best to all.
