Stories from the West coast
Greetings all;
Ive no idea if what Im about to do is a terrible violation of netiquette
or not. But I can think of no way to let you know that weve got a new
address.
rocks@sprint .ca is now longer operative or at least not for Rockland
Books of Victoria. We are now rocs@home.com. Indeed we have done it, gone to
cable that is, and when I get over the shock of speed Ill start talking
books again.
I do have a neat little book story for you though, its about being in the
wrong place at the wrong time.
In acquiring books for the University of British Columbias first serious
library (by purchase rather than haphazard gifts) J.T. Gerould, the
universitys newly appointed buyer, was arrested as a spy in Germany. Hed
picked a bad day to arrive on his buying trip August 4, 1914, the day
Britain entered the war. After much delay he was finally deported to
Switzerland. Needless to say the purchase by UBC of German books was also
delayed a bit.
Cheers, Kim Whale and may all your customers be bibliomaniacs.
