1999 Bibliography Week schedule

Dear All,

As of now, here's what's happening in New York during Bibliography Week,
January 26-30 1999. If I've left anything out, please let me (and your
fellow Exlibris subscribers) know.

Cheers,

Eric Holzenberg
The Grolier Club

*********************************

BIBLIOGRAPHY WEEK HAPPENS EACH YEAR at the end of January when the principal
national organizations devoted to book history have their annual meetings.
Other groups plan interesting events, too, since so many bibliophiles are in
town. You do not need to be a member of most of these organizations to
attend their annual meetings or events. Indeed, you are encouraged to show
up everywhere: get a sense of what is going on in the book world this year,
hear some interesting papers, schmooze over cocktails.

Tuesday, 26 Jan.

At the Rare Book and Manuscripts Library, Columbia University: The 5th
Annual Book Arts Lecture. Roger L. Stoddard on "Looking at Marks in Books."
6:00 pm. For more information call (212) 854-2231.

Friday, 29 Jan.

1) At the CUNY Graduate Center Auditorium, 33 West 42nd Street: The annual
meeting of the Bibliographical Society of America. Papers from new scholars
at 2:30 pm, meeting at 4:30 pm; reception follows.

2) At the 25th Street Armory: Opening reception for a special Bibliography
Week book fair at the 69th Regiment Armory, 68 Lexington Avenue at 25th
Street. 4:00-10:00 pm.

Saturday, 30 Jan.

1) At the New York Public Library, Trustees Room, 2nd floor: The annual
meeting of the American Printing History Association. 2:00 pm; reception
follows.

2) At the Grolier Club: Bibliography Week Farewell Tea. Immediately
following the APHA annual meeting, ca. 4:30 pm. Guests encouraged.

And while you're in New York, take an hour to view the quite extraordinary
assembly of manuscripts and early printed books on display at the Grolier
Club: _A Treasure House of Books: The Library of Duke August of
Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel_. Hours are Monday-Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm, and
admission is free.
