I am an undergraduate student at the Massachusetts College of Art. I am
currently trying to put together a travel grant proposal. My goal is to
soak up some of the history of the book. I am looking for suggestions
along the lines of where one can go to begin to actually experience the
history of the book. Are there any scriptoriums that are a must see? Is
the first Gutenberg press still standing and if so is it worth seeing? Has
anyone been to the St Nikolaus Church Library, the Library of the Cusanus
Monastery or the Chruch Library in Zutphen? Is there anything still
standing that dates back even further than what I have already mentioned?
Any and all guidence will be much appreciated!
Thank you in advance.
