Dear list members:
Can anyone cite literature that discusses (or even mentions) the cost of
paper in the United States at the end of the 18th century? I am researching
a map printed in Boston in 1785 from plates measuring c. 21 x 16 inches,
and am assuming that requisite paper would have been imported. Aside from
Wroth's COLONIAL PRINTER, and a letter transcribed in a monograph on
American cartographer Lewis Evans, I have uncovered nothing specific
regarding paper costs. Undoubtedly someone on this list has knowledge of
such a source. Any help on this matter would be appreciated.
