I just received the following query and have been unable to find anything on
the title in question. I am not proficient in German, but I think this is a
publication featuring original works in the collection at Bonn University
Library. Any information would be appreciated.
"I have recently come across a unique set of prints in a booklet called
"PLANTARUM RARIORUM et MEDICINALIUM ICONES". Each print measures 10.5 inches
by 15.5 inches and is imprinted with the Bayer cross in the bottom right
corner of the print. The booklet which accompanies the prints is also 10.5
inches by 15.5 inches and is written in German. The names on the front cover
of the booklet are: Nicolaus Joseph Jacquin, Joseph Jakob Plenck, Peter Simon
Pallas, and Karl Ludwig Willdenow.
The booklet is postscripted as follows: "Die Originalwerke wurden von der
Unisersitats-Bibliothek Bonn zur Verfugung gestellt" and appears to be a
historical account of the rare/medicinal plants.
The prints include "Georgina variabilis purpurea" and "Nigella Sativa L" to
name only two of several. Each print is in colour.
Can you tell me anything about these unique prints and the accompanying
booklet? - age, purpose of publication, etc."
