Washington Rare Book Group Meeting, February 11

Greetings!

The Washington Rare Book Group is holding a "Collector's Night" on February
11, 2000 at the Smithsonian's Dibner Library. This is a somewhat different
event for those of you who have been eager all these years to show the world
a couple of the pieces you are particularly proud of.

We will begin at 5:30 pm with hors d'oeuvres, soft drinks, and wine/cash
bar. The program, with each collector who wishes to exhibit giving about a
5 minute talk about his/her collection, will begin about 6:30 pm. For those
of you wishing to exhibit, please note that we ask that you limit your items
to 2, since space at the Dibner Library is limited. You will be given the
opportunity from 4:00 to 5:30 to bring your items in and arrange them. All
items will be secure and protected in exhibit cases.

The Smithsonian's National Museum of American History is located on the
Mall, 14th and Constitution Ave. Use the Constitution Ave. entrance. Take
the Metro (Orange and Blue Lines) to either the Smithsonian or Federal
Triangle stops.

If you plan to attend, please send a check for $10 payable to the WASHRBG to
Leslie Overstreet, 7735 Tauxemont Rd., Alexandria, VA 22308 no later than
February 8, 2000.

NOTE: If you wish to exhibit some of your items, please contact Leslie
Overstreet by January 31, at (202) 357-1568.

Looking ahead, we have a March 22 luncheon meeting scheduled at the Navy
Yard Library in Washington, DC; a Saturday outing April 15 to the Sporting
Library in Middleburg, Virginia; and we will welcome Daniel Traister,
Curator Research Services, Annenberg Rare Book Library, University of
Pennsylvania, as our speaker for our annual luncheon at Ft. McNair on May
17.

We look forward to seeing you at some or all of these events! Please
remember, you do not have to be a member to attend events!

FINAL REMINDER! WASHRBG Membership -- Send a check payable to WASHRBG for
$15 to Melanie Gardner, Treasurer WASHRBG, 201 Spring Ave., Takoma Park, MD
20912. I hope to have the membership directory published by March 15.
