Re: MODERATOR--Commercial activitiy

Friends,

I must join the chorus of distressed - albeit cultivated ;-) voices
expressing a desire that the list remain as it was. If, as many have
guessed, there is a University server policy that does not allow the words
"catalog" or "sale" to appear, then perhaps we can use a code?

I enjoy the opportunity to view - or to delete - notices of available books
and manuscripts and associated services. Surely this is a part of the
business that most of us are involved with. Does this mean that
announcements of any seminars or book-related events that charge admission
will be disallowed?

There is an HTML writers list that I joined briefly a couple of years ago
but I found its policies so stultifying that I couldn't get useful answers
to my questions about pricing, marketing, or other practical aspects of
webpage design. I don't want this to happen to what I consider a varied
"give and take" list.

I look forward to reading Mr. Wilkie's explanation.
