CHIEF LIST BIGOT--Commercial activitiy (better read this one)

If RBMS, as an organization, is so distressed by the fact that bookseller announcements can no longer appear on Exlibris, I would suggest that RBMS modify the rules of its own list and allow such announcements to appear there instead. (They're currently banned.) It seems to me to be the perfect solution. I am surprised that the RBMS Executive Committee did not, in fact, announce that bookseller advertisements are immediately welcome on RBMS-L to compensate for the present Exlibris problems with them, rather than complain about policies on another list.

And the nice part about that scheme is that I am, so far as I know, still the RBMS list Liaison (as I was dubbed) and therefore take my orders about that list from the RBMS Executive Committee. That way, if you don't like one of my interpretations, you can indeed appeal to a higher power immediately. Indeed, the beauty of the whole scheme would be that I don't get an opinion.
