Re: Present mess

Mr. Wilkie,  as moderator of this list,  has made a decision that  is bewildering and offensive to many.   He has, furthermore,  refused  to respond to any of the many  questions, arguments and  comments,  save to chop logic by accusing the RBMS of being equally as  unfair as he is.  If this kind of conduct  prevails,  then what kind of list will we  really have?   I would like to suggest that Mr. Wilkie should reanalyze his notion of  "moderator"  or at least "moderate."

What a bloody mess!
I have written Everett asking him politely to explain and I hope he will.
I just can't understand this.  I could understand explaining to people who
innocently offer single books as if exlibris were alibris that this isn't
done but wiping out catalogue announcements, webpage addresses, and so on,
is just getting in the way of knowledge and sorely needed communication
between librarians and other collectors and their best friends, the
antiquarian booksellers.

In any case I hope I will continue to hear from you and the other
booksellers, although it will be pure philanthropy on your part since I am
now retired and out of the book buying for the library.  I do draw things
to the present buyers' attention however, something which continues to have
some value, and is made possible mainly by following up announcements such
as those which are being banned.
