Re: Orientation of titles on spines

I am reminded of a cartoon that appeared in MAD Magazine about 30 years ago:
It shows a young man with his head tilted to the side, almost resting on his
shoulder, an affliction known as "the lazy student's ailment."
The lazy student, we are told, when assigned to do a book report, will scan
library shelves in that position in search of books with their titles printed
horizontally on spines, since these books are usually thinner.
