The following observation may be of interest:
A well-known antiquarian bookseller, transplanted from England to the U.S.,
issued all his English catalogues with spines printed from bottom to top, and
all his American catalogues (which began in the early 70's), with all their
spines printed in the opposite direction.
Except for this directional alteration, the American catalogues retained the
same format as the English.
