Re: Knickerbocker Press

Another note about the Knickerbocker Press, which is probably not helpful for your needs: I believe that it was part of the G. P. Putnam's Sons organization, much as the Riverside Press was part of the Houghton Mifflin publishing house.

Hello everyone. I really don't have any experience with rare books, but I
joined the list because I am taking a course on print culture and am
interested in learning more beyond the classroom. I am
hoping someone can give me a little information on the Knickerbocker
Press. I have a small volume that is the second book in a series
autobiography of Goethe (titled "The Boyhood and Youth of
Goethe--Translated from the German by John Oxenford). The book does not
appear to include a publication date. If anyone has information on the
press or on this series of books, I'd be interested in receiving it.
Thank you in advance!
