J. Fernando Pena, Cataloguer for The Grolier Club, kindly informed me that
no "History of Rhedi" appears in the catalogue among the items that were
sold in Jean-Philibert Peysson de Bacot's July-August 1779 sale (supplement
is devoted to the library of M. Jouvencel).
He also examined the French bookplate reference source that Michael
mentioned (Olivier, Hermal et al., all 29 volumes!), and found no reference to
the Jouvencel crest.
I'm passing this information along to the list so that no one else will try to
follow up on my request, and also so that you will all know of J. Fernando
Pena's kindness!
Thanks again also to Michael North and Sara Weber.
