The Lexikon des gesamten Buchwesens (LGB2), vol.5 (1996), p.153, reports
two historic libraries at Merseburg:
1. The Benedictine abbey St.Peter and Paul, founded in 1091 and
secularized in 1561/62, had a library which is lost since 1565. Yet,
several of its manuscripts are still extant.
2. The Chapter library which reaches back to 1004 and keeps still some
1200 printed works and 200 manuscripts, among them its most famous
manuscript, the Merseburg Spells ("Merseburger Zaubersprueche"; cf.
http://www.merseburg-querfurt.de/gemeinden/merseburg/zaubersprueche.htm).
A digital catalogue of the manuscripts is to be found at
http://141.84.81.24/merseburg/
Extant manuscript holdings of both libraries are listed by Sigrid
Kraemer, Handschriftenerbe des deutschen Mittelalters, vol.2 (1989),
p.572-576, with bibliography.
Hoping this helps,
