Bridwell LIbrary has a Matteo de Ferrara, Vita de sancto Hieronymo
(Cambridege MA: Cygnet Press [1928]), bound by "P.B. Sanford Co."
Nice little 12mo, full pigskin, spine gilt. Our record has Black Sun
Books's 1988 remark that this copy is in "the rare deluxe binding." You
might check other copies. Sounds like Cambridge is a lead.

In our collection, we are cataloging a book from the later 19th or early
20th century with the binder's stamp: P. (or F.) B. Sanford. Is anyone
familiar with this binder
The American Antiquarian Society has about 15 bindings by P.B. Sanford --
most of which seem to have been commissioned by John W. Farwell (1843-1929).
But we never found out anything else in the course of our authority work, so
I too would be interested in learning more.
