Director, Sallie Bingham Center for Women's History and Culture, and
Resource Specialist for Women's Studies. Duke University Libraries seeks a
creative and energetic individual to provide leadership for building the
Sallie Bingham Center for Women's History and Culture and women's studies
resources in both the Rare Book, Manuscript, and Special Collections
Library and Perkins Library (circulating collections in the humanities and
the social sciences). Responsibilities include identifying and acquiring
materials pertinent to women's studies; serving as a liaison with faculty
regarding library collections and services in this field; overseeing the
Bingham Center's staff; providing reference assistance; directing outreach
activities; and facilitating the processing and cataloging of materials for
the Bingham Center. Required: master's degree from an ALA-accredited
program and/or an advanced degree in an appropriate subject field;
demonstrated knowledge of and interest in women's history and women's
studies; familiarity with standard archival procedures; minimum of two
years of professional archival/special collections experience; ability to
relate effectively to users and donors of special collections materials.
Must be flexible and a self-starter, possess excellent oral and written
communication skills, and have the ability to be an enthusiastic
participant in a team-oriented environment. Desirable: experience with
building circulating collections in an academic or research library and in
creating and using Web resources in an academic setting. Salary and rank
dependent on qualifications and experience; minimums are $34,800 for
Assistant Librarian; $37,300 for Senior Assistant Librarian; $40,650 for
Associate Librarian; $46,750 for Librarian. Send cover letter, detailed
